Singapore Day 2009 on 25 April 2009

From Cambridge to Croatia, Overseas Singaporeans came from the various corners of both UK and Europe to soak up “home” (Singapore day 2009) in London. Arriving as early as 8 am in the morning, they came in cars, buses and trains, ready to dig into food, top up on the developments of their favourite haunts in Singapore and catch up with friends and family.

The atmosphere and truly Singaporean spirit came to the fore with the performance of Singaporean artistes in a concert put together by MediaCorp. The recruitment booth and the many displays also pulled in the crowds, triggering memories of home and a sense of belonging.

Singapore Day is one of the signature programmes in the Overseas Singaporean Unit’s overall efforts to engage Overseas Singaporeans. It is held in different cities with a significant community of Overseas Singaporeans. Singapore Day is a collaborative effort between the public, private and people sector; an event by Singaporeans, for Singaporeans.
