hey i am looking to get this for my niece - a new copy of the book Star Sapphire by Han May . read it as a kid and figured my 9 yr old niece will like it.

anybody has any idea where i can buy it?

I couldn't find it either. Checked the usual places like Amazon. Hopefully someone else will chime in with more info.

I just don't understand why they offered the said book on their website in the first place! mad.gif
Even if they could send you the book, I would have no confidence ordering from this shop. They're closed for the holidays, and there wasn't an announcement telling you that? And why would they list something on their catalog which they don't carry?

I finally received a reply from the bookshop in Perth:

QUOTE

Dear Amy

Apologies for the delay - we have been closed.

I'm afraid I can't help with that publication at all - Malay is a very minor language for us unfortunately so I can't even offer to order it for you.

Apologies on this occasion.

Best wishes for 2007
Annie

Amy, if you want I can let my Dad you are looking for this book. Are you going to return to Spore anytime soon so both my parents can meet you & your family in case you return to Spore for a visit. At least they can get to know more Singaporean families living overseas who I have been in contact with. Like "killing 1 bird with 2 stones" or "mengeratkan lagi siratulrahim antara umat manusia". If you want ASAP or purchase it thru online, give me some time okies..

Take care.

Riza

Thanks for your offer, Riza. I wouldn't mind to have a second-hand copy if I can't get a new one. I hope that your dad manages to get one or something similar.

Still no reply from the bookshop in Perth. I wonder whether they still exist? rolleyes.gif

Please make sure it is the book you want! A$35 plus postage seems a lot to pay for it if it is not the right one.

San

Hi San,

I have indicated the ISBN in my e-mail and I found out that the price of the book is about US$16.50 (S$32.00). I just hope that the postage is not that expensive.

Hi San,

Thanks so much for the link and your kind efforts! I really appreciate it. It seems that they do not have an online shop. I will try and see whether I can order the book in one way or another.

Thanks again and Happy New Year! smile.gif

I wonder why they bother to have a website in that case! Fern has relatives in Perth, maybe she can get them to help - I'll have a word with her. Should I hear back from Times Publishing, obviously I shall let you and Riza know immediately.

Best wishes

Hi Amy and Riza

I found this weblink to a Language bookshop in Australia (!). If you look at Page 4, right hand column, they have listed the Tesaurus Bahasa Melayu for A$35.00. Maybe someone in Singapore can order the book for Amy as Oz is not so far from Singapore. There is a wealth of teaching and learning material listed which may also be of interest to anyone wishing to learn or improve their Malay!

Hi Amy and Riza,

Further to my earlier posting, I have searched the websites of both Times Publishing and Marshall Cavendish for your book without any success. It may be that the book is out of print. I have sent an email to Times Publishing enclosing the relevant information you supplied and asked them if (1) the book is still in print and (2) where a copy can be obtained in Singapore or Malaysia, or even online. I'll let you know the information if I get a reply from them!

Regards

San

Hi San,

You are really a gem! I thank you for your efforts and hope that I am able to get a copy of this book. I have checked on eBay but to no avail. My brother has been looking for this book for quite some time and so far no results.

Riza, thanks for your kind offer. Let us wait until San receives a reply from Times. If not, I will have to see whether I can buy it secondhand somewhere.

Suds, thanks a lot for the link. I will check to see whether I can get something similar.

By the way, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Hi Amy and Riza

If Riza's parents cannot locate the book (although I suspect that is a very good chance that they will), please let me know, I can contact friends of mine in KL to ask them, and maybe they can track it down.

QUOTE(Amy Kiesgen @ Dec 22 2006, 01:03 PM) *

I am desperately looking for:

Tesaurus Bahasa Melayu (Malay Thesaurus)
by Prof Madya Noor Bin Mohd Noor & Others
ISBN: 9812042296
Publisher: Times Editions Pte Ltd

About the Book: One of the first few Malay thesaurus ever to be published and compiled by 5 highly respected academics and professionals.

Since my husband is seriously taking up malay lessons, I have been looking "high & low" for this book. I was not able to get it on my last home trip cos Times does not sell it anymore and MPH did not have it at all. Can anyone help me?
