hello, i attended singapore day 2009 and i quite enjoyed it. (i always enjoy good food) the queues were well managed, altho towards the end of the day some of the food seemed to have run out. and it was generally a glorious day. but i thought the performances could do better. for some strange reason there was a lot of hokkien going around and if i werent singaporean and came as a guest i might get the impression that singaporeans speak (just) hokkien wherever they go..which is quite odd cos we mix languages more.. maybe i'm just a lousy singaporean who cant understand much hokkien and canto.. i don't know if i am considered representative of the young students studying overseas who turned up for the event..
i was hoping that in the next singapore day, we could invite singaporean bands/groups to put up performances? i'm recommending budak pantai cos i've been to some of their performances and they are amazing at connecting with people from across all races and converting non-fans into fans. on top of that they are a really good acapella group too! if there was time, you could also screen movies by singaporean directors, i'll find that more enjoyable than æžç¬‘行动 which was like from more than 10 years ago..
